Members of the New York Yankees received the COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium. One of those gamers is infielder Gio Urshela.
Sadly for the Bronx Bombers, Urshela is experiencing adverse effects from the vaccine and has been placed on the COVID injured list. Management revealed the group ahead of Friday’s video game versus the Tampa Bay Rays.
Urshela has had a decent season at the plate so far, slashing .261/.292/.304 with one RBI on 6 hits in 6 games.
Under an arrangement between Major League Baseball and the Players Association, we can unwind specific health and wellness procedures for teams with a minimum of 85% of their Tier 1 workers totally vaccinated. This includes not needing to wear masks in the dugout or bullpen.
Yankees supervisor Aaron Boone said earlier this week that his players would be 85% vaccinated soon.
