Casino Royale is mainly credited for rebooting the James Bond series with Daniel Craig. Quentin Tarantino felt that Casino Royale would’ve never been made if it weren’t for him. At one point, he felt so highly about it that he believed individuals behind Royale owed him credit for the film.
Quentin Tarantino quote versus Barbara Broccoli for rights to ‘Casino Royale.’
Tarantino had constantly expressed interest in doing Casino Royale. Tarantino made an actual effort to get the book rights to bring his vision to fruition.
” Casino-Royale was not going to be the next movie. They were establishing another script, but then, after a long battle, the Broccolis all of a sudden got the film rights to the very first Bond film, regardless of Quentin Tarantino bidding against them,” Campbell said according to Warped Element.
Tarantino also would’ve had Pierce Brosnan continue his role as 007. The Broccolis decided to go in different instructions.
” The script being developed was an original story in which James Bond isn’t the character we know today; however, someone younger and more screwed up,” he stated. “Pierce was getting on for age 49 or something and too old to play the younger Bond, so they decided to enter different instructions.”
Quentin Tarantino didn’t think that Casino Royale would’ve existed if it wasn’t for him. In an meeting on Friday Night with Jonathan Ross, the Pulp Fiction director shared how he influenced the movie.
” The reason they did Casino Royale all comes down to me,” Tarantino stated. “It’s the truth. The important thing about it is I made it a point that I stated, ‘I wished to do Casino Royale. They were currently on record as stating the film was unfilmable. However, after I said it and spoke about it for a bit, the big thing on all the internet was that the fans wanted to see it. And that’s when they [ went], ‘Oh, perhaps it’s not so unfilmable now.”
The Mirror reported Tarantino raised the scenario and felt the studio must’ve acknowledged him for the film.
” I resent that none of them provided me a shout-out that I’m the one [that] got them making Casino Royale,” Tarantino said. “They told them, ‘We hesitate Quentin’s going to make it too good and f *** the rest of the series.'”.
Quentin Tarantino’s interest in a Bond film passed away after learning that Pierce Brosnan wouldn’t depict the character.
” Once I heard Brosnan isn’t going to be doing any more Bond movies, that killed it as far as I was concerned,” he stated at the Empire Awards (utilizing Sunday Morning Herald).
That’s because the Goldeneye star embodied everything Tarantino wished to see in a Bond.
” Over time, he’s tested himself to me as the James Bond for this generation,” he continued. “He can pull off that 60s thing that Casino Royale would have– it’s not almost a person trying to take control of the world, with speeding trains and action sequences; it must be more like the book.”.
